Faheem Rashad Najm (born September 30, 1984), better known by his stage name T-Pain , is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for popularizing creative use of the Auto-Tune pitch correction effect, used with extreme parameter settings to create distinctive vocal sounds. Others followed, including rappers Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Future.
After signing with Akon's Konvict Muzik, T-Pain founded a vanity label imprint, Nappy Boy Entertainment, in 2005. His debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga , was released in December of that year to critical and commercial success. In 2007, he released his second album, Epiphany , which reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. His third and fourth albums, Three Ringz and Revolver , were released in 2008 and 2011 respectively. The albums included a string of hit singles, including "I'm Sprung", "I'm 'n Luv (Wit a Stripper)" (featuring Mike Jones), "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" (featuring Yung Joc), "Bartender" (featuring Akon), "Can't Believe It" (featuring Lil Wayne), and "5 O'Clock" (featuring Wiz Khalifa and Lily Allen).
T-Pain has received two Grammy Awards from twelve nominations: his first with Kanye West for "Good Life" and his second with Jamie Foxx for "Blame It". In addition, T-Pain was featured as a guest performer on over fifty commercial singles from 2006 to 2010. His furthest success was reached with Flo Rida's 2007 debut single "Low", which was named third on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs of the Decade and has been certified diamond (10× platinum) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
